Meet the Artist
Alice Diógenes
I’m Alice Diógenes, a self-taught Brazilian artist with a background in law and criminology. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 lockdown, I found solace and creative inspiration through art. What began as a therapeutic outlet soon blossomed into a thriving business, driven by my passion, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
With a love for watercolour, fore-edge painting (an endangered art form dating back to 1650) and reading, I transform books into unique works of art and cherished family heirlooms. Through intricate, hand-painted designs, I strive to capture the essence of each story, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate both the magic of literature and the personal connection each client has with the book.
As an avid reader myself, I work closely with my clients to understand the story and significance behind every commission. I believe our relationship with books goes far beyond the words on the page. They create worlds we immerse ourselves in, and their stories become woven into our own lives and memories. Today, my art has found new homes across the world.
As I continue this journey, I remain committed to excellence, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Every brushstroke is guided by emotion, and every piece I create reflects my dedication to preserving both the beauty of books and the timeless art of fore-edge painting.
